Overview of the Activity Timeline

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

The activity timeline in your dashboard offers a clear view of system events, helping you track daily business operations. This log captures changes, new entries, and updates across products, customers, and suppliers, providing a full picture of recent activity.

Timeline entry types

The Activity Timeline is made up of two main types of entry:

  • System generated entries - these are created by the system as users perform activities, such as progressing an order, or updating a customer record.  These are not editable and represent an audit trail of business activity
  • User entered notes - against entities such as customers, suppliers, products, orders, etc. there are ‘Note+’ buttons that enable entry of a text note.  These notes can also have attachments, reminders etc.  These notes appear in the timeline alongside the system generated entries.  They contain a link back to their creating entity, so it is easy to navigate to them.  Find out more about advanced note features here: Adding product alert notes to products

Dashboard Timeline Views

When reviewing the timeline, you can filter the entries by the whole company, your Home Depot or just your own activity, You’ll see key events such as order placements or adjustments. Selecting an order number from an activity directs you to the relevant transaction for closer inspection. You can also add comments to an activity note —use the dedicated button to note follow-ups like delivery date confirmations. These remarks can remain as quick references or be converted into formal notes for long-term use.

Saving Favourite Activities

Important entries can be marked by clicking the star on the right, saving them for easy access later. The starred activities are gathered in a separate list, available from the top menu. Just click the green button with the star. Beyond the dashboard, individual customer and product profiles include their own timelines, detailing updates like quote expirations or order histories.

Searching the Timeline

For broader analysis, the reporting section features a timeline overview.

To access it either click on the blue magnifying glass button in the Dashboard Activity Timeline banner, or click the Reports Menu and select ‘Timeline Overview’.

This grid compiles all entries in one place, with options to search, filter or export the data for further review.

This feature ensures you stay informed and can act on updates efficiently, keeping business processes smooth and transparent.
